There are multiple ways for individuals residing in Hungary to apply for a Police Certificate/Official Certificate of Good Conduct. Applications can be submitted three ways; (1) By mail at the address listed below, (2) electronically at the following website: http://www.nyilvantarto.hu/en/web_assistant, and (3) In person at the Customer Service Centre of the Criminal Records Authority (address listed below). The application form and instructions can be found at any post office in Hungary, and the application must be sent in with payment for the processing fee.

Non-residents that need a Police Clearance Certificate can apply for it at their nearest Hungary Embassy or Consulate, or they can apply by post mail or online.
The National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information is the authority/commission that oversees and enforces data protection in Hungary. Hungary follows the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC that was put in place by the European Union. Hungary has implemented the provisions of the data protection directive through Act Number CXII of 2011 on Informational Self Determination and Freedom of Information. These laws protect the way that personal data is collected and handled. It states that individuals should provide consent prior to the collection of data, unless the law suggests otherwise.

Data Protection restrictions are in place for countries within the European Union (EU). They do not allow for the transfer of data to countries outside of the European Union. Due to this restriction, the Safe Harbor was created. When a company becomes Safe Harbor certified, they agree and certify that they will meet the privacy and data protection requirements set forth by the Safe Harbor Directive. CRS checks is Safe Harbor certified, which allows us to obtain information from the EU.
