Belgian Nationals residing in Belgium may apply for a Police Certificate (extrait de casier judiciaire/uittreksel uit het strafregister) through the Federal Public Service Justice in Brussels. Whether you are located in or outside of Brussels, you must either mail or fax in a personal written request to the following address. You must include the reason for your request as well as a copy of your identity card and/or passport.

Non-residents that need a Police Certificate can mail in their request or apply for it at their nearest Belgian Embassy or Consulate.
The Privacy Commission is the authority that oversees and enforces data protection in Belgium. Belgium follows the data protection Directive 95/46/EC that was put in place by the European Union. Belgium has implemented the provisions of the data protection directive through the Law on the Protection of Privacy in Relation to the Processing of Personal Data (Wet tot bescherming van de persoonlijke levenssfeer ten opzichte van de verwerking van persoonsgegevens / Loi relative a la protection de la vie privee a l'egard des traitements de donnees a caractere personnel) also known as the DPL. These laws protect the way that personal data is collected and handled. It states that individuals should provide consent prior to the collection of data, unless the law suggests otherwise.

Data Protection restrictions are in place for countries within the European Union (EU). They do not allow for the transfer of data to countries outside of the European Union. Due to this restriction, the Safe Harbor was created. When a company becomes Safe Harbor certified, they agree and certify that they will meet the privacy and data protection requirements set forth by the Safe Harbor Directive. CRS checks is Safe Harbor certified, which allows us to obtain information from the EU.
